Apostles
Creed is one of the oldest known creeds of the church,
which dates as early as the 3rd century A.D. By saying this creed
each Sunday in worship, the entire congregation recites the Gospel
as stated in it. It has been stated by congregations during worship
for centuries.
Confession of Faith is
our church’s statement of faith as a Cumberland Presbyterian
Church. It also contains our way of governing the church,
including the Book of Discipline.
Cumberland Presbyterian Denomination
is a family of churches which is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.
Organized in 1810, the denomination is one of the oldest mainline
denominations in the United States. Bethel College and Memphis
Theological Seminary are the denominational institutions for higher
learning.
Lords Prayer is also prayed
each Sunday as a part of our liturgy. It is recorded in Matthew
7:9-13.
Revised Common Lectionary is
the Holy Scripture divided into a three-year cycle. There are
lessons from the Old Testament, Psalms, New Testament and
the Gospels which are read each Sunday in Worship. In a three-year period, the entire Bible is read in public worship.
