Our Pastor
Dr.
David R. Tullock serves as the 44th pastor of First Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. An ordained Baptist minister, Dr. Tullock
became a Cumberland Presbyterian in 1998 and is a member of the
Tennessee Georgia Presbytery where he has served as Moderator,
Chairman of the Committee on the Ministry and has been
a delegate of the Presbytery to the Synod of the Southeast.
He also serves as chaplain at Bachman Academy, a Christian
school of the East Tennessee Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church
(USA).
Dr. Tullock is a graduate of Carson Newman College, in Jefferson
City, Tennessee and holds two graduate degrees from Southern Seminary
in Louisville, Kentucky, including a Doctor of Ministry. He has
had extensive training in Family Systems Theory and Death and
Grief Education. He was a popular teacher of English and Religion
at Chattanooga State Technical Community College and Pastoral
Care in the Program of Alternative Studies at Memphis Theological
Seminary. He is a gifted preacher and an engaging pastor.
Believing in social justice, Dr. Tullock has led congregations
in developing and participating in various ministries which help
the disenfrancised, those living outside the bounds of society
because of sickness, grief, poverty or life-circumstances. He
was founder of Rossville Community Ministry in Rossville, Georgia,
which serves as a social ministry to the poor and involves over
25 churches and organizations. He is actively involved in FirstCare,
a bereavement ministry, Habitat for Humanity and Heifer
Project International.
Dr. Tullocks greatest delights in life are his wife, Cristy,
and their two children, David Isaac and Sadie Grace. Of all the
titles he has, his favorite is Daddy.
